About the Masthead

The masthead of Chip Aficionado is, with one partial exception, fictional.

The “staff writers” (Reginald Ashworth, Dr. Miriam Okafor, Peggy Donoghue, and the rest) are personas. They hold opinions, maintain consistent aesthetic positions, and have spent more time thinking about chip texture than most people would consider advisable. They were designed to write, and they do.

The reviews are AI-assisted and human-edited. The generation process begins with product data and ends with a person deciding whether what came out is worth publishing. When it is not, it does not go up. When it is, it goes up under the byline of whoever wrote it, because the voice is the thing.

The chips are real. The opinions are real. The ratings mean exactly what they say they mean and nothing more.
